Facetious

Facetious

<fah-see-shish>

joking; flippant; ironic;

saying or doing something in a way not meant to be taken seriously.

I was being facetious when I said your hat looked good. A hat with giant feathers never looks good.

Memory trick: Facetious reminds of facet. A facet is a face or front of something.
We show a fake face when we lie in a kidding way.

Used at work:
I was being facetious when I said you would have to work late. Go home.
