A person who gives complete support to an idea or a thing.

He is a football zealot. All he wants to do is watch football.

Zeal reminds us of zeal or gusto- being excited about something.

Lot reminds us of a lot or a great amount.

Zealots were a radical sect in ancient Judea known for their undying commitment to fighting the Romans who ruled them.
