A denizen knocks on your door.
Why do you let the person in?

So the person lives there.

Succumb means to submit or yield.

Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
